FAQ: HOW TO DO ROGUE FESTIVAL

To some, the Rogue can seem strange with its odd traditions and rapid rotation of shows. Here’s some tips on how to get your Rogue underway simply and effectively. Once you see Rogue in action, it’ll all make sense!

HOW DO I BUY TICKETS?

You can buy tickets online or at the venue for the show beginning 30 minutes prior to showtime. Tickets at the venues can be purchased with cash or debit/credit. Online tickets are set to “sell out” once half of the tickets for that performance are sold. So don’t let “Sold Out” online keep you from trying to see that show! You can show up at the venue 30 minutes prior to the showtime and still have a good chance of getting tickets!

100% of the ticket price for a show goes to the performer. Rogue doesn’t take a dime of ticket money.

To buy online, find the performer’s listing and click on “Buy Tickets”. Or just go straight to roguefestival.ticketleap.com and do a search for the performer or show title.

Note: the Rogue Store/Info Booth DOES NOT sell tickets to shows. They do sell the 10-Show-Pass. Individual show tickets are online or at the venue only.

Also Note: Artist Underground shows do not have tickets on our Ticketleap Site. They control their own ticket sales. See their show listing on the Rogue site to get a link to their tickets.

WHAT’S THIS WRISTBAND THING ALL ABOUT?

As you arrive to buy tickets or check in to a show, you’ll be asked to show your Rogue Wristband. This wristband is a one-time $5 purchase that serves as your ticket to The Rogue Festival WHOLE. Since 100% of the show tickets go to the performers, the wristbands are how Rogue Festival pays for things like the ticketing service, the programs, the promotions, the venue equipment, etc. You will only be asked to purchase the wristband ONCE, so long as you keep it with you when you attend shows.

Wristbands can be purchased when you show up at the venue for your first show or they are also available at the Rogue Store/Info Booth in Revue Parking Lot. They can also be purchased online and then picked up at your first venue (show your receipt/purchase!)

SHOWTIMES:

Rogue Shows run in rapid rotation, so shows will begin at the time listed in the program. So arrive 15-30 minutes early for your show. Some shows will not admit latecomers (check the program), so you must be there before showtime to be admitted WHETHER YOU HAVE PURCHASED A TICKET OR NOT.

HOW DO I POST OR FIND A REVIEW?

Rogue Festival performers depend upon word-of-mouth to find an audience to your shows. So we encourage audience members to post reviews of the shows they see on our website. Simply look up the performer’s show page and leave a comment on the show. While both negative and positive reviews are encouraged, please be constructive in your feedback and keep it to the performance of the show. Audiences really do look to other audience reviews to make up their minds to see a show.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE ROGUE POP-UP STORE AND INFO BOOTH:

Our Pop-Up Store and Info Booth is in the Revue Parking Lot on Olive Avenue. At the store, you can ask questions about Rogue Festival, purchase tee shirts, buttons, wristbands, and 10-Show Passes, as well as pick up programs.

10-SHOW PASS:

If you plan to do a lot of Rogue-going, consider purchasing a 10-Show Pass. You get 10 shows for $100, which is up to $20 savings! It is basically a punch card, so for each show you go to, your card will be punched for the number of tickets you use until you run out. The passes can only be purchased at the Rogue Store/Info Booth in the Revue Parking Lot, so plan to come a bit early and pick one up. Good for venue ticket purchases only, not available for online tickets.

WHERE DO I PARK AND IS IT SAFE?

There are several parking lots open to the public and lots of street parking on Olive and Wishon. Most of our venues are within walking distance of each other, so we encourage people to find a safe parking place, store valuables in your trunk, wear comfortable shoes so you can walk from venue to venue, enjoying the Tower District Neighborhood. The main streets usually have a lot of foot traffic during the festival and Rogue has several roving security personnel keeping an eye out for problems. The Tower District is at its best and most comfortable when there are lots of people about.

Rogue Festival is enjoyed best with a friend, but if you find yourself on your own and feeling unsafe, check in at a venue table, or at the Rogue Store/Info Booth at The Revue and we’ll see about getting you an escort to your car. Rogue has a security coordinator on staff and hired security doing regular check-ins at each venue.

I’M A TOTAL NEWBIE. HOW DO I DO MY FIRST SHOW?

If you’ve never attended the Rogue Festival before and don’t quite know how to tackle getting started, here’s a standard flow for getting your first show under your belt.

If you’re the type who likes to plan things out:

Review the Rogue Program (see the PDF on the web until you can get a hard copy!) and decide on the first show you’d like to see. Use the daily grid to see which shows are playing the day you’re attending, and the index to find the show description and venue in the program. Buy your ticket and wristband online at ticketleap.com. Print out the paper version of the tickets and wristband receipt, or keep them on your phone.
Look at the Map in the middle of the program. Find the venue on the map and consider where you might be able to park nearby the venue.
Park near the Tower Theater if your first venue is VISTA Theater, The Revue or Spectrum Gallery.
Park on Wishon between Floradora and Hedges if your first venue is Cal Arts Severance.
Park near the Dollar Tree if your first venue is Fulton Street Art or Veni Vidi Vici.
Park on Fulton near Elizabeth if your first venue is Dianna’s School of Dance.
Plan to park 30-40 minutes prior to your first showtime. Walk to your venue. Look for the red pop ups and volunteers at a table.
Hand your printed tickets and wristband receipt to the volunteers so they can scan it and check you in. They will hand you your wristband and a boarding pass. Pick up a printed Rogue Program if you don’t have one yet.
Wait happily knowing that you will be let in the doors 5-10 minutes prior to the show beginning!
After the show: Consult your program. Find the venues nearby your first venues. Look in the daily grid to see what shows are coming up at the nearby venues. Choose a show, walk to that venue 15-30 minutes before the show, purchase a ticket on the spot. . . NOW YOU’RE OFFICIALLY ROGUE-ING!

If you’re a spontaneous-type:

Decide to go Rogue.
Head to the Tower District. Find some parking that’s centrally located. Around the Tower Theater is usually the most central.
Get your hands on a Rogue Program. You can pick them up at the Rogue Store in the Revue Parking lot or at the table at any venues.
Do a quick look-through of the daily listings, choose a show, and head to that venue. Do your best to arrive 15-30 minutes prior to the show, just in case it turns out to be a popular one.
Buy your ticket and wristband right then and there at the venue. Cash or debit/credit accepted.
Enjoy the show.
Rinse and repeat.
